5 Essay writing contests Available for 2017 writing competition

 Below is a list of five essay writing competition available this year. What you need to do is to visit their website for details on how to submit your work. Some of this contest charged a reading fee but, they are genuine and scam free. To do this, just search for the contest review. All of them have a very positive website reviews. Note that these contest accept only online submission and through email.

Steinberg Essay Contest

This contest is named after and in honor of Fourth Genre’s founding editor Michael J. Steinberg.  It accepts only unpublished, non-fiction essays of about 6,000 words.  The author needs to familiarize with submission guideline. The winning essay will be published in the spring issue of Fourth Genre the following year.

Winter 2017 Narrative Magazine story contest

Winter Contest is open to all non-fiction and fiction authors. What they are looking for short shorts story. They have varied categories of this, for exam general submission, iStory, six-word stories or iPoem.  They also receive memoirs, personal essays, graphic stories, and photo essays. Reading fee differs, it depends on most what category you wish to do a submission.  They are looking for all kinds of literary nonfiction.  They do publish longer excerpts, from works of both non-fiction, and fiction.  The entry should be unpublished original work of no longer than 15000 words. It must not have been published before either in print or electronic or used in any contest as a winner, finalist, or honorable mention prior.

Essay collection contest

Cleveland State University’s Essay Collection contest welcomes the submission of all essays regardless of the author’s previous publications and Manuscripts approximately 100-300 pages in length. The winner will receive the publication, plus the cash prize of $1000, and together with a standard royalty contract. For details, go through their submission guidelines.

C.G Jung society of St. Louis Writing contest

The receive work for competition through email. The theme in 2017 Writing Contest is Dreams, Memories, and Sensualities.  Your work should be up to 3500 words in length. All submissions must be original and not previously published. The first winner will go home with a cash prize of $1000, second best $500 and third will pocket $250. Please note the deadline.

Arizona Literary contest 2017

They accept previously published works. They receive submission in the following categories: Nonfiction, fiction, and Children’s Literature. Publishing date for previously published work must be 2016 or 2017. Submission of Unpublished work may include work of Poetry, New Drama, Essay, Short Story, Article, True Story, or Unpublished Novel.

Top four finalists in all categories except New Drama, maybe be published and featured in the Arizona Literary Magazine 2018 and the winning New Drama script is published in its entirety.

To qualify for an award, entry must remain unpublished until literary award is announced in each category. This communication will be made on November 4, 2017. Entering the 2017 Arizona Literary Contest, all unpublished contestants do agree to consign first serial rights to Arizona Authors’ Association
